Snow Day Calculator

Terms of use

Using snowdaycalculator.website: chances are estimates, only your school district decides, and our pictures and tables may be reused with a credit link.

Last updated: October 29, 2026

These terms apply to snowdaycalculator.website, published by PVV Media Technologies, 102 N 2nd Avenue E, Newton, IA 50208, United States. By using the site, you agree to them.

Estimates, not decisions

The calculator, the map and the guides are general information. The chances the site shows are estimates worked out from the National Weather Service forecast by rules we publish; forecasts change, and every district decides in its own way. Only your school district decides whether your school closes, opens late or holds a remote day. Check with your district before you change any plan. We work to keep every answer and every state rule correct, but we can’t promise that the site is free of mistakes, and we are not responsible for decisions made on the basis of this site.

Independent

This is not a school, school district or government website, and it is not run by or linked with any state education department, the National Weather Service or any other agency. It is not connected with any other snow day calculator or website. No school, district or company pays us or chooses what we publish.

Our content

The site’s own text, tools, pictures and design belong to PVV Media Technologies. You’re welcome to quote a short passage with a link to the page. Please don’t copy the site’s pages or tools in bulk; its pictures and tables may be used as the next section says. The forecasts are the National Weather Service’s, and the laws and rules are the states’ own.

Using our pictures and tables

You may use the pictures we draw for the calculator and the guides, and the site’s tables of figures with their CSV files, free of charge: on your own website, in a document or in print. Please use a picture unchanged. You may use a table whole or in part, with its figures as we publish them. Either way, credit Snow Day Calculator with a link to the page the picture or table comes from. This does not cover our logo; everything else on the site follows the rule above.

Fair use of the calculator

Please use the calculator and its answers at /api/chance/ for what a reader asks: one ZIP code at a time. Don’t send it automated requests in bulk; the site limits how often it asks the Weather Service on everyone’s behalf, and bulk requests can make it slower for others.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it and are not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, United States.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. Questions: contact@snowdaycalculator.website.
